He worked with me on determining a budget, he advised some additional cleanup he could help with while he was here, got a ton of work done in a single day and still came in under our original budgeted estimate. Merlin came out to my house to cut down a couple of trees, trim some dead branches, and grind the stumps. Not only did they do an impeccable job, but they also left my property looking spotless! If you are looking for shrub, tree or root removal, I highly recommend Merlin of KingsGard Tree Service of Cedar Rapids. I called many places for a free estimate. Merlin impressed us by his prompt and confident response. He showed up right away and answered our questions and gave us speedy service working by himself. He guided me with all the questions and concerns I had and went the extra mile doing extra things like trimming the dead branches off our tree, when he was originally there to take out a bunch of damaged/dying shrubs. He went to great lengths to leave our yard looking good. He even cleaned up the street in front of our house which had some debris from hauling away a big flatbed of shrubs for us. He paid great attention to detail in his work, offering suggestions of what we could do for future landscaping where the shrubs were. I really felt like he had our best interest in mind the entire time. I felt like we received our money's worth too. I highly recommend calling Merlin with KingsGard Tree Service. Merlin was fantastic. Honestly I couldn’t have asked for more. We had a few larger trees and a couple smaller trees. They took them down in a day and also removed the stumps and debris for a very reasonable price. Great people and great results.

My experience with Merlin was fantastic. Had an ash tree that needed to come down in a tight space in my backyard and overhanging the neighbor's. The tree came down very methodically. They managed to avoid my wife's strawberry patch and leave few scars in the lawn. They do use heavy equipment which had me concerned, but less than a month later, you could find no evidence. After stump grinding, I had him do a total of 3 stumps, he backfilled the holes with dirt (quality dirt, not that weedy field crap that the city puts down after utility work) and seeded. He also filled and seeded any scars left behind and took care of a bulging root that stuck out about 10 ft from the trunk. All the heavy work was done in a single day with backfill and seeding done about a week later. I Will absolutely use them again.
