Great experience with Doug. He was excited about the tree, which is a large Japanese Maple, and it really struck us that he knew what he was talking about. And we love our tree, and are excited about it’s well-being and care, so it was really nice to see that reflected in the person who was going to be doing the cutting. They were EXTREMELY accommodating and flexible - both with scheduling and the price. They came on a day they would normally be off, and also gave us a discount so we could catch up on years worth of work without it being cost prohibitive. They came highly recommended, and I can see why. We absolutely plan to hire them again and make them our primary arborist for our 70 year old Japanese Maple. Before and after attached as well, you can see how scraggly it was in the top picture and in the bottom picture, it’s nicely rounded out and thinned.

Doug came out on short notice on a Sunday to remove a huge limb that fell on our roof during the ice storm. He did a fantastic job, safely and efficiently getting the limb down. I really appreciated how careful he was and how much he cared about the health of the tree. Thanks so much!

I have two huge 100+ year-old bigleaf maple trees in my front yard. One is declining significantly due to past injury and decay, and I’ve been dealing with it differently. The other, larger tree (trunk 7’ diameter at its narrowest; 95‘ tall), though completely hollowed through its center, is still surprisingly strong and healthy. It was in need of some TLC after the 2016 ice storm damaged several upper limbs and due to some “lopsided” growth pattern putting significant weight on the street side of the tree. Doug Hornaday (Artistic Arborist) is one of the few people in the area with the expertise I trust with a tree this special. Given that much of the trimming needs were at the outer ends of drooping branches and a third of the tree overhangs the main street through town, I was a wee bit anxious that he and partner Jason could properly deal with the trimming by only roping up and climbing throughout the tree, without a bucket crane to efficiently access critical areas. I needn’t have been. After getting their ducks in a row, Doug and Jason slowly and methodically made their way into every area, nipping and snipping as they went, including installing a couple more cables to stabilize some branches. It was a pleasure to watch, especially Doug’s at times almost acrobatic finesse maneuvering from branch to branch. They did an excellent job, and I’ve had a significant amount of ever-increasing stress lifted from my shoulders worrying the next wind storm might be the one the tree couldn’t handle. I think we’re good for another several years. (apologies for the pic quality -- standard cell phone snaps…)

Thank you Doug Hornaday at Artistic Arborist. The man was awesome, at professionalism, kindness, and a very pleasant person to be around. Doug rescued our cat ( Morris ) from a very tall tree. Doug went up the tree as easy as it was stairs. After Doug saw Morris he said the cat greeted him right into his arms. Our cat was in the tree for 4 days and 3 nights. Thanks again Doug for saving Morris. I recomend Artistic Tree Aboris to anyone. 😊

Doug did a fantastic job trimming our Magnolia trees. He and his crew were professional, hard-working and kind. They did all the work of moving our toys and stuff around our yard and putting it back afterwards. They left the yard cleaner than they found it. I will definitely use Artistic Arborist again!!
