Van Booven Tree Care

This tree service showed up to trim neighbors trees. Blocked my driveway with no notice. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I asked to use the driveway and was told a few minutes. 35 minutes later they moved it. I have lived here over 20 years and had a lot of tree services in the area. Never blocked the driveway without notice.

Van Booven's crew did a outstanding job trimming and shaping a very large oak and a huge maple for us. Both old trees were badly in need of the work and the difference between 'before' and 'after' was amazing. It clearly showed that these are arborists, know their trade, and deliver a great result. The crew works safe, they are careful not to damage things in the area, they are responsive to owner's input and questions, and they do an excellent job of cleanup. We used them at our last house and had the same experience there. They do wonderful work.

Once again I had the team from VanBooven Tree Care out to take care of a tree issue. This time however, it was to remove a very large oak tree that had fallen from my neighbors yard, crushing my pergola. The guys were so careful making sure they did not damage any of my other trees including several hand planted redbuds. I have used the VanBooven team for the last 25 yrs and the experience is always amazing. Even though they used a track loader, you could not tell it as they pick up ALL debris and hand rake along the machine path. They even had to remove 5 very large flagstone pavers so as not to damage them. When done they reinstalled them exactly in the correct position. Thanks to everyone from Greg, the owner, Chris Brewer, the best climber/pruner in the business, TJ Hastings, crew leader, Chris Bryant, loader operator. A special thanks to Brad Hatfield, sales manager who has worked with us over these many years! I would recommend this company for any of your arborist needs.

On 06/08/22 right after the fierce storm hit Overland Park, I woke up early morning to a huge amount of tree damage on my property. I called two companies - Van Booven Tree Care and Elite Tree Service. They both told me that there was a lot of storm damage and they would try to come out that morning. I told them both that I was calling other tree services and would use the one who arrived first, but they must call me when they arrived. Sometime later I heard machinery outside my house and saw some men moving some downed tree limbs onto my property from the street - it was Van Booven. They DID NOT call me and tell me they were there as I had requested, Elite DID call me and said they were on their way so I told them to come out (before I knew Van Booven was there), and Elite arrived about 15 minutes later. Since Van Booven DID NOT do as I had asked, by calling me when they arrived, I chose to use Elite Tree. The male who answers the phone at Van Booven (manager or owner?) was very upset and said he was going to charge me for coming out, but I did not think that was fair because they did not tell me they were there. They just started working and I wanted to give them direction on what I wanted done. Would you paint a house without asking the owners what color they wanted???? Today I received an invoice in the mail for $325.00 - for "debris removed." They didn't remove any debris - they just moved it around on my property. I'm not going to let a large company like Van Booven bully me around and try to charge me for things they did not do, even though $325.00 was their minimum charge. It is his word against mine, and I am the honest one and I believe they are trying to take advantage of me as a senior citizen. If I have to pay it, it is certainly going to be under protest! If you ever contact Van Booven, please consider NOT using them for your tree needs. There are plenty of other HONEST companies around town other than them like Elite Tree. The Elite crew worked 17 hot and hard hours during 3 days and charged me $5000 for the massive amount of work they did, and it was well worth it.

This company trimmed our trees back, both those on the street (to maintain wire clearance) and along our driveway. They discussed how much trimming we wanted and gave a reasonable estimate that they honored. After cutting, they cleaned up completely and put all the branches through a chipper that they brought on-site. I highly recommend them.
