Southern Touch Tree Service and Landscape Management

I waited several days to write this because I wanted to reflect on the experience and make sure I was being fair. However, after spending hours trying to fix the issues ourselves and hearing consistent negative feedback from others, I feel this review is necessary. We hired the company to remulch our lots, spread the mulch evenly, and add dirt to help level the areas for mowing. In my opinion, the final result was very disappointing. The yard is uneven and bumpy, the dirt was only placed in some sections, and overall it looks messy. When we expressed our concerns, Alex repeatedly said this was some of his best work and that nothing else could be done. He refused to fix anything or offer a discount, and he stated that if we didn’t pay, he would place a lien on the property. I’m extremely frustrated that we spent thousands of dollars and did not receive the results we discussed. In my view, it is extremely sloppy, and it will take months for us to get it to look how we asked him to make it look. I will never hire him again.

I can't say enough great things about Southern Touch Tree Service. They accessed what needed to be done, got my estimate and to a surprise was on schedule the next day. Austin and his team took care of my large overgrown oak tree. I could not be happier with the job . Very good communication skills and polite from Owner Alex to Devin and Austin. This is rare to hear of these days!!! My tree service forever.

From quote to clean up the job went perfectly smooth. Alex was great with communication and Zack was great with the work. Zack and his guys were on time. (we very much appreciated that) They did a great job. Even more than I was expecting for the price we negotiated. I have a 1/2 acre that still needs a lot of attention and Alex will be my tree guy from now on. The cleaned up a huge Oak to include removal of some dangerous limbs. Dropped 3 palms and removed the stumps. I did not expect the stumps to be ground but that was a nice surprise. These guys are true professionals. I asked them to leave us some of the material for my wife's garden. We will make some great compost and fill some low lying areas in the back of the property with it. They stacked it nicely for us.

I am highly dissatisfied with the work Alex did on our property. The results are not what we requested, and the workmanship is very sloppy. He did not listen to the instructions I repeatedly tried to explain. He seemed set on doing things his own way. For example, I specifically asked for the mulch around the trees to be removed and then to be spread out neatly. While he handled a few areas correctly, many trees were left with a lot of mulch around them. Whenever I brought up concerns, he shifted the conversation to additional services that would cost more money instead of addressing the issues with the work we were paying for. He also kept repeating how hard they worked, which felt unprofessional, effort does not excuse poor results. Although he insisted the job looked great, both neighbors and friends agree the work was sloppy. This experience has been extremely frustrating, and now it will take additional money and a significant amount of my own time to get the property to look the way we originally requested. Based on my experience, I do not recommend this company.

I have hired many contractors to have jobs done on our homes. We have had some that were great and others not so great. This is the first time had such a bad experience I felt compelled to write a review. We hired Southern Touch at a cost of $29,000 for 7 days of tree removals, tree trimmings, garden plants removed, and some mulching. The crew we had were very hard workers and I have no complaints with them. My complaints are with the owner, Alex. He puts on a great sales pitch about how goes above and beyond and does business making the customer happy but our experience was anything but. A lot of their equipment (stump grinder, boom truck, and a skid steer) broke down and the time lost kept other work from getting done. I was charged extra because he said he had to rent a crane but never got one when doing the job nor did he give any reduction of our cost and pocketed the savings for himself. The equipment leaked hydraulic oil all over the driveway, cracked the cement, broke a lot of the flower garden edging, and had sprinkler pipes tore out. The condition the property was left when the job was finished looks like a war zone. After multiple attempts to have Alex try to rectify them he said that clean up was not part of the job but he could come back if we payed for an extra days work. I showed him photos of a neighbor yard that had a tree and shrubs removed and the yard was cleaned but he said it’s different for one tree than a lot of trees. A lot of lies and excuses. It’s all about the money. He didn’t take ownership for any of these issues and left us having to hire someone to clean the property, try to remove the oil stains, and repair the concrete, edging and pipes. My mistake was trusting and paying him before the problems were resolved. You will never get another job from me. Shame on you Alex! Added a photo for stump grinding from a contractor (Florida Stump Grinding) that came to grind down stumps that were never ground and just covered with mulch. Had to pay a $1200.00 for them to grind the a lot of stumps below the surface.
