The services provided by Harrison McPhee, Inc., are by far the best. I have switched several times before locating this company. I am impressed with their professional manner and services. I have a 150 yr. European Copper Beech, that has made a miraculous comeback. My previous arborist retired and I was in need of locating the right arborist qualified to care for my beech tree. I was overwhelmed by their expertise, generosity of advise of how to care for my trees. Everyone I have contacted has been helpful and generous with time. I also have an Eastern Pine as well. I am grateful to Jack Russell for the recommendation to hire Harrison McPhee. You will not regret your choice with this company. They will take care of your landscaping needs. I went through 4 arborists after my first retired. Having old trees can be a challenge but you are in good hands with Harrison McPhee. We are on our 2nd year with this company. My European cooper beech has a bleeding canker disease and it's made a comeback. Trust Harrison McPhee to care for your landscape. They are exceptional and stand out among the rest.

I had a tree encroaching on the house which was going to be an issue the next storm. I called their office to make an appointment and was told they would assign an arborist, got a call the next day and had Josh out to assess the tree a few days later, he spotted another two that while not as bad as the first were going to becoming a problem soon. Also a few that I thought 'might' be a problem but was told not to worry, so they weren't looking to jack up the price. They were also able to throw in a bush trimming that would be a pain with small garden tools but easy for industrial stuff. Overall I found the experience pretty simple and the folks had Harrison McPhee folks pleasant to deal with.

HORRIBLE experience with this company whose contract was to take 12-18" off selected tops of the hedge and tie up a couple of branches on the side. Instead they cut out over 50 branches and trunks ranging from 4-6 feet long and made the hedge at risk for catastrophic damage in future wind and snow events due to the removal of branches and trunks which had supported each other.(see pictures) They also broke branches (see pictures) by stepping on them instead of using a ladder, putting these branches at risk of dying and leaving more gaps in the hedge. This hedge (first image) has never lost a single branch nor trunk to breakage in the 25 years I have taken care of it and the purpose of the pruning was simply to allow snow to fall more easily through the tops of the hedge. The supervisor's response to my shock was to say "we give our crew creative license" and to then send me the bill in full. After I contacted the owner, he and the supervisor roped the top of the hedge together and the owner said the crew probably didn't know the difference in pruning the trees making up my hedge from trees that can grow faster. The company does not return my phone calls for working out their remediation of their breach of contract. I’ve consulted with 3 other local arborist companies who after viewing the damaged hedge said “they didn’t know what they were doing”, “your hedge will never be the same”, “it’s going to take 5-10 years for it to come back to where it is not at risk of a snow or wind event taking it down".and more. They spoke to negligence in adhering to the specific pruning as stated in the contract as evidenced by not only the 50+ long pieces cut out but by big branches cut out at the bottom of the hedge as well.(see pictures) And ignorance of pruning standards in how they had cut out so many of the vertical stalks the hedge needs and has been relying on for being stabile all these years. I have never posted a negative review before but this was such an egregious violation of the contract -and the company not being willing to be accountable for the damage they did- that I felt it incumbent upon me to warn other potential consumers. If you need a tree cut down, they can clearly do so. If you need an ornamental or specimen tree pruned to professional arborist standards, beware. I'm not a novice to hiring arborists having done so for over 20 years and never once have I had such a violation of the specific pruning as stated on the contract nor the refusal on a company's part to work things out.

Harrison McPhee (HM) is everything I need in the "tree department"! Management and Customer Service are responsive and good at the details. There was a lot to be done so it took 2 days to complete. Protection of the light posts around the driveway was excellent. All areas of the grass were also protected. In all there must have been close to 30 sheets of plywood used to cover the grass. HM management and I both wrote out exactly what was going to be done, so it went pretty smoothly. I would easily hire them again when I need more work. The crew earned all 5 stars, Kyle was the lead. Everyone on the crew was easy to communicate with and even took initiative where I wanted.
